Secrets to TYTY's Best Selling, Science backed KASHMIRI Saffron!

Secrets to TYTY's Best Selling, Science backed KASHMIRI Saffron!

TYTY SAFFRON is 100% Pure, ONLY STIGMA part (3 crimson stigmata) of saffron, coming directly from the LOCAL GROWERS of world famous Kashmir, India. It is NOT mixed with other parts of the saffron flower (like yellow stamens) or anything else. Shown in the below picture as of Length 'B'.Saffron is a small, bulbous, perennial herb, a member of the lily family. To produce saffron, the stigmas [the part of the flower which catches pollen] must be painstakingly handpicked, cut from the white style and then carefully laid on a sieve and cured over heat to deepen the flavor- highly labor intensive process.

Original Saffron consists of only minute crimson stigmas (female part) of a blue-violet flower called CROCUS SATIVUS. Only three stigmas per flower. To make one gram of this pure saffron you need 1500 flowers. For 10 gms = 15000 flowers and for 1 Kg = 15,00,000 flowers approx.Saffron essentially is the three stigmas of the saffron crocus. They are delicate and thread-like, each measuring 2.5 – 4 cm (1 -1.5 in). Its colour is a bright orange-red, and in high quality saffron this is uniform. Saffron threads bearing white streaks or light patches are inferior and when light specks appear in the powdered form it suggests adulteration.

Cultivation and use of saffron spans more than 3,500 years. It has been traded and used across continents and even utilized as a treatment for over 90 disorders. Cleopatra, as per certain texts, used saffron in her baths for its cosmetic properties. Each flower grows low, just six inches off the ground, has three crimson stigmas growing from one pistil, and three golden stamens. it is just the stigmas that constitutes the actual Saffron.

This prevents cancer from developing or spreading in the body.
  • Analgesic Qualities - Pain relief is always a valuable asset for a herb or natural remedy, and the volatile compound safranal in saffron acts as a sedative for many patients. This sedative action can help to relieve pain, reduce anxiety and stress, improve sleep patterns, and generally soothe the mind and body, which is always a good thing!

More specifically, the high content of vitamin B6 found in saffron spice can help our nervous system in running smoothly and prevent some of the deadly and dangerous disorders that arise from poor nervous system function.
  • Improves Bone Strength - Some of the minerals and organic compounds in saffron have been linked to optimized nutrient uptake, particularly of calcium. By maximizing the amount of calcium that our body can absorb from food, we have a better chance of improving bone mineral density and preventing the onset of conditions like osteoporosis and other degenerative age-related diseases.
  • Relieves Anxiety - Saffron has been known to relieve mild depression and improve mood in those who regularly consume it. The many active compounds in saffron have some effect on the endocrine system and can stimulate the release of beneficial hormones that keep us happy and healthy. This can prevent things like atherosclerosis, heart attacks, and strokes from occurring.

    Saffron Quality Test

Test Saffron Purity at Home (Simple and Genuine)

    • Saffron contains Croccus compound (i.e.Picrocrocin) which make its taste bitter. You can take 1 or 2 strand in between your teeth and tip of your tongue. In 5 seconds only you should feel bitter taste and the colour of your front part of the tongue, front teeth and inner lips should turn golden, while the thread itself retains its original colour. Adulterated saffron may be tasteless or sweet and will not give golden colour but lose its own red/crimson colour. Original saffron contains Crocine that gives it Coloring strength and Safranal which gives it a unique smell.
    • It once mixed with hot milk or water shall not leave its original (reddish color) color but should give golden color; making water or milk golden in colour. Adulterated saffron threads will turn white and give more of red colour very fast (not Golden colour).
    • The threads should be hard and brittle to touch. However, a strand of saffron when bent vertically on palm of your hand should slightly bend a little, NOT break instantly with a very little press .This indicates it has low moisture and is not over dried and crisp. Excessive dried and crispy threads indicates matured and aged saffron which has lost moisture due to improper storage.
    • The redder the color, the better is the quality of saffron. Crimson or dark red. A full piece of stimgma should have orange tips and should not have any color variation. The orange color of the extreme tip part should be easily seen visually if a few strands are placed on a clean palm of your hand in the day light. There should be no traces of yellow. If the tips are not orange, especially the thinner side of the tip, it means that the saffron is of inferior quality and has been perhaps dyed. Saffron threads with white spots and those with yellow stamens attached should be avoided.
    • Saffron should have a strong and fresh aroma. It should smell sweet and not musty.
    • In view of its rarity, intensive hand labour, less quantity and high quality, the original and pure saffron is costly compared to other health-rich food agents. Thus, if it is available at a lower price, it is likely to be of inferior quality or may even be fake.
    • It is a bit difficult to discern powdered saffron based on color as it is more likely to be adulterated. It generally has a lighter color than the saffron threads or tips. To ensure superior quality, it should be bought from a reputed brand or merchant. it is advisable to prefer the thread if possible, as ground saffron has a shorter shelf life than the dried threads. It is usually mixed with other ingredients and lacks the quality and flavor of saffron threads.

    Storage:

Here are some tips on how to store this whole spice at home:

    • Keep them airtight: Ensure that the spice packaging is airtight. If the original packaging is not airtight, transfer the spices to airtight containers or jars with tight-fitting lids. This prevents air and moisture from entering and affecting the spices' quality.
    • Store in a cool and dark place: Whole spices should be kept away from heat, light, and humidity. Choose a cool and dark location, such as a pantry or cupboard, to store the spices. Avoid storing them near the stove, oven, or other sources of heat.
    • Avoid frequent exposure to air: Each time spices are exposed to air, their flavor and aroma can diminish. To minimize air exposure, only open the spice containers when necessary, and quickly seal them back.
    • Keep away from sunlight: Sunlight can accelerate the loss of flavor and color in spices. Ensure that the spice containers are not exposed to direct sunlight or intense artificial light.
    • Avoid storing near strong odors: Spices have a tendency to absorb strong odors, which can affect their flavor. Keep the spice containers away from strong-smelling substances like cleaning products, chemicals, or pungent foods.
    • Do not grind until needed: Whole spices maintain their flavor and aroma longer than ground spices. Consider grinding the spices just before use, as this helps preserve their essential oils and flavors.
